Such a thrilling year last year. With hamilton being crowned as the WorldChampion, lot of people wanted Fellipse Massa to be the champion, Fellipe lagged by only 1 point. Having created an enormous interest in him by this Formula 1 win last year, and also granering critcisim for a bad performance in A1 GP, makes him a surprise package for F1 this year.

This year also witnessess the introduction of KERS into F1. Renault will be the first team to use Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) . In short, this is regenerative braking technology which converts the heat energy wasted during braking of the car into the kinetic energy, giving a huge boost to the car's speed. This can be critical during the race defining moments, where mili seconds makes decision.

This yar also masks the beginning of a new team, BRAWN GP. Honda pass ownership of their Formula One team to team principal Ross Brawn in early March. The team is renamed Brawn GP for the 2009 season.

Having secured both pole positions in the Asutralia qualifying round, where other mighties like Ferarri and McLAren struggled to secure even 5th position, makes this race even more interesting to watch. Is it an emergence of a new era, owned by the likes Brawn?
